09:00
Breakfast at Jimmy's Lighthouse at Chalong Bay. Lots of atmosphere
and lots of construction going on in the bay. You're on holiday
so forget the cholesterol count and go for the three-egg "Lighthouse
Omelet" with ham, hash browns, juice and coffee. If you have
time, walk out on the old pier rickety, picturesque, and it'll be
gone soon.
10:15
Head for Rawai Beach where a longtail boat can take you to Koh Lon,
a nearby island, for a swim and some snorkeling. If you are lucky,
maybe you'll have the beach to yourself. Don't forget to stop at
See Bees Diving at Chalong Circle to rent a mask, snorkel and fins
for 250 baht. At Rawai pick-up drinks and barbecued food from one
of the vendors on the beach. Bargain hard with the longtail driver:
the trip to Koh Lon and back should cost 500 baht.
15:00
Longtail arrives at Koh Lon and returns you to Rawai. Return your
rented equipment and take Chaofa Road back to Phuket Town, but turn
right when you reach Sakdidej Road and head for Cape
Panwa. If you have time, take a quick tour of the Phuket Aquarium;
then take the tram down to the beach. You'll find it on the grounds
of the nearby Cape Panwa Hotel. Unwind with a drink at the old Sino-Portuguese
Mansion called Panwa House oodles of atmosphere. If you can't tear
yourself away, stay on for a traditional Thai dinner. If you want
to eat and boogie elsewhere, head for Phuket Town.
18:30
In Town make a beeline for Gitano
on Sim Phai Road near Robinsons. Owner Michael Kirjon and his friend
Meng Lin run a trendy place frequented by Phuket's up and coming.
Beer is only 44 baht during the 18:00 20:00 happy hour. Later in
the evening it jumps with live music. Good place for singles on
the prowl.

Dinner at Kajok See, located
on Takuapa Road near the junction with Ratsada Road. The place has
that special atmosphere few restaurants can attain.
There is no sign, the tables use newspapers for tableclothes, the
clientele is fiercly loyal, and the food is absolutely marvelous.
Khun Lek is a great host. This is a place you shouldn't miss.

to life on funky Takuapa Road.
