After breakfast, and one last look at the beauty of Phangna
Bay, head back to Highway 402. When you arrive at the road you will
have to head back to Phuket for a way because of the barrier in
the middle of the road. When you are able to change directions,
head north, but at the "Klong Kian Pier" and "Phangna
Bay" signs set your trip odometer at 24 kilometers (the distance
from Phuket Town).
This reading will be your guide for the remainder of the trip.
32.5 KM You are in the middle of the town of Khok Kloi and the intersection
of Highway 402 and Highway 4; leave Highway 402 and head north on
Highway 4, following the signs toward Takua Pa and Ranong. You are
past all of that nasty construction work so you can relax and enjoy
the scenery. 99 KM You have reached scenic Khao Sak National Marine
Park, but continue on to 101.5 KM. This is the entrance to the Khao
Lak Palm Beach Resort (tel. 420-099 or 420-100) your destination
for the day.

Impressive isn't it? This is a luxury resort in every sense of the
word. Khun Veerapol, the Executive Assistant Manager, will probably
meet you as you check-in. He is a gracious host and anxious to please.
Since it is still early, you have time to sunbathe, swim or a walk
along the beautiful beach.
Although the beach in front of the resort is sandy, it is adjacent
to the rocky and picturesque coastline inside neighboring Khao Lak
National Park. If you are the sort who prefers a pool, the one at
the resort is especially inviting. Drinks and refreshments can be
enjoyed both at poolside and in the lounge chairs on the beach.
If you don't feel like swimming, you can drive over to the national
park and take a walk on the nature trail.

The restaurant at the resort has a wide selection of delicious Thai
and international dishes. After lunch, have Khun Veerapol arrange
an outing for you. You can go on an elephant trek through the jungle
to a waterfall. If you like to snorkel, a trip can be arranged out
to a coral reef where you can watch the life beneath the sea. If
you want to get away from the ocean, the resort can arrange a canoe
trip for you on the nearby Lampi River.

Have dinner at one of the tables overlooking the Andaman Sea. You'll
enjoy the fabulous sunset. Its been another unbelievable day.
