Thai Style Antiques has built a reputation for offering the highest
quality Thai and Southeast Asian antiquities. But owner, Hans Lamers,
has another passion hidden in his back showrooms with fine furniture
pieces from India to Korea that he has personally supervised the
careful restoration.
Hans has spent almost thirty years collecting and restoring fine
European antiques in his native Holland. When many of his established
customers became interested in Chinese or Japanese furniture, he
began investigating available stock.
It couldn't have been a better time as China was opening the country
to tourism and commerce. Hans soon discovered beautiful wooden chests
and altars with fine workmanship and exquisite detailing but he
had to find Chinese restorers who could return the furniture to
its original beauty. He found a local village in Southern China
who could do the work and his export of authentic Chinese medicine
cabinets and altars began.
Today, Thai Style has expanded it's collection of furniture. Visitors
can choose between cabinets and cupboards fashioned in Indonesia
based on old Dutch colonial designs or the more simple tables and
chests from Southern India left from the Raj.
Hans offers a beautiful selection of Korean wedding chests where
a young bride would store her wedding garments for life.
All of these unique pieces of furniture give a room character and
beauty. Hans invites you to stop by Thai Style Antiques on the Airport
Road and enjoy his vast collection of restored furniture.
