The success of the Banyan
Tree Spa concept was immediate from the opening six years ago.
During this time, the demand for massage and beauty treatments grew
rapidly.
Phuket's
Banyan Tree Spa recently developed eight new spa pavilions for it's
most exclusive treatments and decided to create the Angsana Spa
for international travellers with a more modest budget but wanting
the finest of Asian healing therapies.
The Angsana Spa was built in the garden at the Dusit
Laguna Phuket Hotel which has served a distinguished clientele
since 1987 . . . happy guests who return each year for the especially
gracious Thai ambience and hospitality for which the resort is known.
The spa complex consists of eight separate villas which are bright,
airy and full of natural light, set in gardens around a central
lotus pond. Each villa is like a hidden paradise, with tropical
plants, bamboo and natural stone used as design features. There
is even an outdoor shower for guests to use after a soothing treatment.
Natural textiles cover massage beds and fresh oils and incense make
the air fresh and fragrant.
"Angsana Spa was created to be a sanctuary for the inner-self,
to refresh, to rejuvenate the spirit as well as the physical body,"
comments David Seet, Director of the Banyan Tree Spas. "It
is a brand-new spa that shares the same philosophy of a holistic,
non-clinical spa which uses aromatheraphy and sense of touch."
Spa treatments are divided into four categories on the menu. The
eight massages range from a traditional Thai or "Ayuthya"
massage which concentrates on the body's pressure points, to reflexology,
to a Balinese massage that eases tension from body muscles using
pressure points on the whole body.
Three bodyscrubs are offered at the Angsana Spa which use proven
natural agents including fresh milk, honey, oatmeal, tamarind and
watermelon (which removes dead skin cells and replenishes lost moisture).
There are four facials to choose from: the Angsana Facial uses
brown sugar, sesame oil and egg white with a drop of lime juice
or lavender oil in a cleaning massage.
Body wraps heal and replenish the entire body and there are five
on the spa menu including wraps using aloe vera to promote new,
healthy skin growth, fresh tangerine wrap and a more traditional
natural mud body masque used to deep clean oily and dirty cells.
For those who want to spend a relaxing afternoon combining healing
therapies, the Angsana Spa offers three special packages named after
the state of mind achieved after treatment.
Taste of Heaven is 90 minutes with a body scrub to clean the skin
and pores and then a choice of massage. Contentment in Paradise
is two hours and combines a body wrap with a choice of massage and
Satisfy Your Soul is a three-hour package which begins with one
of four body wraps, followed by a choice of massage and finishes
with a refreshing facial.
The Angsana Spa provides a very high standard of healing spa therapies
made more unforgettable by the heavenly surroundings.
